When I was 6 years old I knew that I wanted to study
Aikido. After the first time I witnessed a hip throw or Koshi
Waza I was hooked!
I remember the question I asked myself well "How can I do
that?"
By the time I finally got a chance to study Aikido
I was well into my 20's and had spent considerable time training
in Jujutsu and Karate.
I spent several years dedicating myself to several other
schools yet I still found myself feeling pensive, that is,
until I stepped into Nations Aikikai. As I watched Andujar
Sensei perform, I was sent back to that very first time.
There was a precision and attention to detail as he presented
each technique that I had never seen before in an instructor.
When I joined, the first class I took felt just like the
one I attended yesterday friendly and exciting! I am often
asked "What do YOU get out of it, out of Aikido?" While
that is a good question, I usually will answer "Everyone
gets something different from their training. Like in all
things the more you put in the more you get out." |
